First FAIR webinar announced for January 2023: register now

The FAIR consortium is pleased to announce the first webinar organised within the framework of the project. Entitled Targeted immunomodulation in airway epithelium to treat pneumonia, this live online event takes place on 12 January, 2023 from 18:00 to 19:00 CET. The event is free to attend but registration is required.

The objective of this webinar is to introduce the concept of targeted immunomodulation as a means to treat pneumonia, with a specific focus on Toll-Like Receptor agonists and aerosol delivery. The webinar will be chaired by Prof Jean-Claude Sirard, FAIR Coordinator, and will include the following presentations:

    • Therapeutic manipulation of lung epithelial immune responses to prevent and treat pneumonia - Scott Evans, Houston, USA
    • TLR5-dependent stimulation of immune defences in the airways - Mara Baldry, Lille, France
    • Relevance and challenges associated with the inhalation route - Nathalie Heuze-Vourc’h, Tours, France

FAIR project study looks at factors which influence patient/clinician attitudes towards new treatment

A new study has been launched to identify factors which may influence how patients or prescribers feel about taking or administering a new innovative treatment for respiratory infections. The study is part of the FAIR project, which is funded by Horizon 2020.

Flagellin is a complimentary product to antibiotics, designed to be administered as an aerosol. Through this study, the researchers hope to be able to identify if there are any negative factors which might discourage patients from using it or clinicians from administering it. Survey responses from both sides will help to identify how this treatment could be adapted to meet user needs.

There are two separate surveys available – one for clinicians and one for patients. Both are available in English and French. The surveys consist only of questionnaires and there is no actual use of this treatment as part of the study. The study will gather feedback based on a hypothetical scenario.
